Obituary of Jessie M. Collins

COLLINS , JESSIE M. Age 88 formerly of Millport , NY and Pine Valley , NY passed away on Saturday January 10 , 2015 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center . Jessie was born January 29 , 1926 in Muncy Valley , PA the daughter of the late Norman L. and Lucretia Hamilton Herring . She married her husband , Walter Collins , on December 24 , 1943 and he pre-deceased her on May 1 , 1991. Jessie was a member of The Horseheads Social Club for over 20 years . She had worked at Artistic Card in Elmira several years ago and as an alterations specialist at Robert Hall's Clothing in Horseheads , NY and Marvin's in Elmira , NY . Jessie worked at Bethany Village as a seamstress and staff relief driver until her retirement. Mrs. Collins was also pre-deceased by her daughter Kay Collins Statin of Arizona in 2008. Jessie loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them . Jessie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law : W. David & Barbara Collins of Horseheads , NY ; daughter and sons-in-law : Nancy & James Gardner of Placenta , CA and Robert Statin of Tucson , AZ ; 8 granddaughters and 7 great grandchildren ; sisters and brothers-in-law : Blanche & Thomas Collins of Millport , NY , Della Herring of Montoursville , PA , and Polly & David Talada of Montoursville , PA ; sisters-in-law : Anna Black and Sondra Collins both of Corning , NY ; beloved companion of more than 20 years John Coleman ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a multitude of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Saturday January 17 , 2015 from 2-4 PM. Mrs. Collins' Funeral and Committal Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours with the Rev Robert F. Adkins officiating . Jessie will be laid to rest next to her husband Walter in Millport Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
