Obituary of Thomas B. McGuirk

McGUIRK , THOMAS B. Age 71 of Horseheads , NY passed away peacefully at home on Thursday November 27 , 2014 . Tom was born December 11, 1942 in Glens Falls, NY the son of the late Francis and Jane Blowers McGuirk . Tom is survived by his wife, the love of his life and best friend, Mary Adams McGuirk. He is also survived by his loving daughter, Vicki Lagonegro of Elmira Heights; grandson, Christopher Brand of Endicott, and granddaughters Lorissa Brand and Loralei Corbett of Elmira; brothers and sisters-in-law, F. Peter & Patricia McGuirk of Macedon, NY and John D. & Kelly A. McGuirk of Albany, NY; several additional brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law , nieces , nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Tom was a graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School. He retired from Schweizer Aircraft in 2006 after 44 years of service . Tom truly enjoyed golfing and had a standing tee time with his cronies at Willow Creek every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. He was a collector from the time he was a young boy; he and Mary were always looking for an excuse to go for a ride in search of his "treasures". Before he discovered golf, he also spent time fishing and riding motorcycles. Anyone who knew Tom will remember his love of life, smile and infectious laugh. He did not allow his disease of the last 21 months to effect who he was. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Monday December 1 , 2014 from 3-6 PM. Tom's funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours with the Rev. Scott M. Kubinski officiating. Tom will be laid to rest next to his parents in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira at the convenience of the family. The family respectfully requests donations in Tom's name to a charity of their choice.
